About Amalapuram

Amalapuram is a township based in East Godavari district of the state Andhra Pradesh belonging to the southern part of India. Amalapuram town is the headquarters of Amalapuram Mandal and revenue division. This municipality of East Godavari district ranks third amongst the largest ULBs of the district comprising of 30 election wards and three municipal zones. According to 2011 population census the population of the town is 53231.

The location of Amalapuram is on the delta region of river Godavari and its geographical position is 16.5787°N 82.0061°E at an average altitude of 2meters. Annual rainfall here is 1100mm and typical tropical climatic weather dominates the area round the year. Amalapuram was formerly known as Amrutpuri that morphed to Amlipuri and then to its current name. The town holds historical value due to the presence of five ancient temples dedicated to Amaleswar or Lord Shiva.

How to reach Amalapuram

For those who prefer air travel Rajamundry is the nearest airport to Amalapuram only 54kms away. If you prefer train you can go directly to Palakollu or Rajamundry and take buses or taxis to Amalapuram. Ainavilli Siddhi Vinayaka Temple
